I marked our wall and Google calendars with the dates. Wow, it's November - just 5 months until we put the house on the market! We've been here 37 years, raised two boys who are now grown men standing on their own feet. The house is full of memories, keepsakes, treasures, pictures, and family antiques.
Now, with dates clearly marked on the calendar, the reality and scope of all this work is hitting us full in the face. Every day brings multiple projects. We're sorting everything into categories: keep, donate, give away, or throw out. Every room needs attention: window screens, paint, trim, molding, rusty baseboards, new shower heads, and new vanities and sinks for the bathrooms, plus new front and garden deck doors. Not to mention, we're commissioning the camper with an office for remote telework, testing all its systems, and deciding on a vehicle and towing method. Oh, and I haven't even mentioned our remodeling project for our second home, a cabin in the Catskill Mountains! Today we engaged a construction company to expand the cabin's kitchen and guest room.
Earlier this summer, we provided Claude AI with a description of our US National Park tour and our plan to sell our home of 37 years. We asked Claude to summarize it and provide us with a plan to accomplish all the work involved. Claude developed an 8-step approach listed in our post "Lifestyle Change." (By the way, Claude is the next-generation AI assistant built by Anthropic, available for free on the Internet.) We are using those 8 steps as a way to divide and conquer all the work ahead.
We promise to keep you all posted on the whirlwind ahead.
I like this post. I can't wait to hear how this all works out!!
