Kickstarting our Transition from Home to RV

Wow, the house was on the market less than a week, we have a buyer and a signed contract! Closing is scheduled in just two weeks. The entire winter was consumed with remodeling projects at home and at our mountain cabin retreat. Read: lots of physical stress in uncomfortable winter conditions. Now physically exhausted, we entered a new phase of emotional stress and decision fatigue. For quite a while we were feeling like the mythological figure Sisyphus, forever trying to get over the hill. We felt as if we were getting nowhere and it would never end.

The reality of our Risky Venture mission seems to be resolving in different directions. With less than a month to go, I think we were in denial or at least oblivious to the reality of the effort ahead.
Our dear friend and kindred spirit, Fran G, offered to help us get our 47 years of accumulated keepsakes and 5 generations of curated family memorabilia pared down and packed up.
Fran drove down from Nashua Mass, with her car loaded with boxes, (new and used) plastic containers, tape and bubble wrap.

Literally Fran was like a project manager on steroids. Early in the morning she had coffee made, lists of jobs and decisions as to what we save/store, give away, donate, sell or throw out. For the next week we wrapped, packed, labeled, sold, donated and tossed a mountain of possessions. Pictures came off the walls, closets emptied.
The attic, oh God, let's not go there, that reality was a nightmare. I had stuffed clown dolls from childhood, a trunk full of Lionel trains, tracks and farmyard animals, even textbooks and lab notes from college now long since obsolete.

For every item a decision had to be made, keep/pack/store, donate, sell or toss. We began to experience decision fatigue, extreme tiredness. The reality now consisted of waves of strong sadness and nostalgic feelings pulling at our hearts. We wondered, was this venture worth the effort?
So it was Fran, I think she shaved the day. She reigned in the horses, gave us Good Organized Direction (GOD), and provided the pep and reality checks we needed. Our reality now changed to hope and the anticipation of the fun and excitement imagined when we started this venture.
