June 12-18: Multiple moves and transitions with many challenges. 'Disasters' is over the top, but it makes a catchy title!
June 12th: Movers arrived at 9:00 am sharp. We thought we were ready, but I found myself packing boxes as they moved stuff out! "Are you kidding? There's still stuff coming out of these closets?"

Samonas Prime Movers were fantastic - professional, efficient, family-run business on Long Island. They wrapped everything with care and finished in two hours, laughing and teasing about who worked harder!
Disaster #1 - June 14th: Driving to meet movers at our Ashokan, NY storage unit, we realized we forgot the certified check! Had to drop Henry off in a cold rainstorm (dressed for Long Island weather) while I zoomed through a deluge to find a Chase bank in Kingston. Bonus: found Henry a sweatshirt at Walgreens after charming the bank teller!
Disaster #2 - June 15th (Father's Day): Back on Long Island, after a lovely dinner at Zorba the Greek in Port Jefferson, we heard a huge POP - massive flat tire with a slit across the entire tread! Now sleeping in our camper with all furniture gone, and we need to hand this car to my sister-in-law in two days. Our neighbor (former Suffolk County cop) saved us with a tip about cheap used tires in Selden. Two perfectly matched tires mounted and balanced for $130! Thank you God and Phil!

June 18th - Final Goodbye: Spent my birthday (June 17th) cleaning every inch of the house. Walked through each room saying thank you - for all the music, Christmas trees, Easter egg hunts, and meals. The house stays to bless the new family; I take my memories with me.
Disaster #3: Finally ready to leave with trailer, motorcycle, packed car, and camper! Driving to meet sister-in-law Vicki at the train station, the skies opened up with the worst storm of my 72 years - heavy rain, fog so thick I could barely see the camper's tail light. Oh, and one tail light went out! And a headlight! Water blew out multiple bulbs, but all replaceable. We weathered the storm with many blessings along the way.
Stay tuned for our first stop!!
